Donna Vale will communicate and bring to life the history of Brean Down Fort through mixed media pieces, film, visual projections and sound. The notion of belonging and the connectivity between community and place will create a unique visitor experience of participation and engagement. Deterioration and weathering is key; incorporating war time letters, the sound of conflict interwoven with narratives belonging to local voices gathered through research and storytelling.
Having spent a lot of time at the fort I’ve been getting a feel for the space and researching through past histories. Putting some work together through found letters and objects connecting people and places. There is no electricity at the Officers’ Mess, so light that naturally occurs is vital. I will be displaying artwork using old methods of illumination and projection.
