Sense of Place

Sense of Place is a collaboration of artists working together to create a visually appealing exhibition in a unique Site of Special Scientific Interest at Brean Down Fort in Somerset.  Owned by the National Trust this unique and beautiful peninsula has many tales to tell.

Responding to the stories of the people, the landscape and the buildings, a connection will be formed with those who lived and worked at the Fort and the surrounding areas.  The artists will use local knowledge, memory and research to further enhance an understanding of the area and the links between the past and the future to create new work. The artists involved will convey their own individual response to communicate and bring to life the history of Brean Down Fort through large and small scale installations. These will be made during Somerset Art Weeks Open Studios 17th September – 2nd October.  The work will then form the exhibition Art on the Edge from 6th – 16th October.

See events page for opening times and events.

I’m pretty sure that was done by Julian Richardson and sadly not part of this project – amazing work!
